2009 Conference Companion Program

RWISO considers Companions as all spouses, partners, and family members that are traveling with a registered RWISO Conference attendee. Since the RWISO conference normally takes place between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm we have organized optional daily tours for companions. There is one tour organized each day and transportation is provided. There is an additional cost for each tour. Lunch is on your own. See specific tour information below for details.

Registration for the companion program is made through Destination Partners in Boston and must be completed by April 27th.

Tour Information

Explore Boston

Explore BostonExplore Boston's historical sites with a narrated tour aboard an air-conditioned, luxury motorcoach. Your tour takes you through Boston's beautiful Victorian Back Bay area, built entirely upon reclaimed wetlands. In the center of the Back Bay is Copley Square, where you will pass the architectural masterpiece, Trinity Church. You also pass by the historic Symphony Hall and the Boston Public Library. Next, you drive through the prestigious Beacon Hill neighborhood and pass by the Massachusetts State House, the Boston Commons and Public Gardens, home to the our famous swan boats. In the Boston's renowned North End, take a brief walk up to the historical Old North Church for brief photo opportunity. During your walk, you experience the North End's unique culture accented by tiny, curvy streets of cobblestone and home to over 85 restaurants and dining establishments, mostly Italian in taste and style.

Your tour proceeds to the Charlestown Navy Yard where "Old Ironsides" is berthed for a photo opportunity and visit to the gift shop. Pass Bunker Hill Monument on your way back into Boston to Faneuil Hall Marketplace for some time on our on to shop and grab a bite before returning to your hotel.

You will enjoy this behind-the-scenes tour of Boston's famous Fenway Park! No other professional baseball park captures the spirit and triggers emotion like Fenway Park. Named for the famous "Fens" area of Boston where it stands, Fenway Park has been a Boston landmark since 1912 - a standing monument to America's favorite pastime. From Pesky's Pole to the Green Monster, Fenway's mystique continues to grow with each generation of fans.

Close your eyes and let your imagination wander. You just may able to hear the crack of the bat as Ted Williams hits the longest measured home run in Fenway's 94-year history - deep into right field on June 9th, 1946 - an amazing 502 feet from home plate!!!

After your tour of Boston's hallowed shrine, you have time on your own to enjoy souvenir shopping and to grab a light snack before returning to your hotel.


Harvard University and John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum

Visit hallowed Harvard Yard and the statue of college founder, John Harvard…or is it? You'll have time to enjoy a light lunch on your own as you browse the unique shops, boutiques and bookstores of Harvard Square. Then you are off to Dorchester to tour the fascinating John F. Kennedy Library. With it's collection of personal mementos and gifts John F. Kennedy received during his presidency as well as historical artifacts, informative displays, unique films, you will find yourself reliving the time during the Kennedy Presidential Campaign, the Kennedy & Nixon debates, the Kennedy Presidency and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
